Excess free radicals in our body is caused by different sources:
  • Physical pollution
    UVA, UVB rays, noise, radiations.
  • Environmental pollution
tobacco, carbon monoxide, ozone, hydrocarbon, nitrogen dioxide, trychlorethylene, formalin, solvents, cadmium.
  • Nutritional pollution
pesticides, detergents, amino acids, oxide fatty acids, trans fatty acids (fried foods).
  • Water pollution
    heavy metals, nitrates.
  • Infectious agents
    bacteria, viruses, parasites...
Those stresses generate an excess of free radicals in the body.

Free-radicals are usually controlled by several anti-oxidant systems:
Anti-oxidant molecules found in foods (vitamins A, C, E, selenium, zinc), enzymes (superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase.)

In excess, free radicals become harmful and attack our own cells by altering lipids, cell membranes and DNA. The accumulation of those stresses leads to genetic errors generating defective cells and aging in skin cells (wrinkles, age spots, lack of skin elasticity), in the eyes (cataracts, macular degeneration), in the brain (degeneration of brain cells, Alzheimer’s disease), in some organs (diabetes, cardiovascular complications, atherosclerosis, arthritis, rheumatism, muscular atrophy). The intensification of those errors leads to cellular death.

The more severe and frequent the stresses are, the more rapid the aging process gets.
